(currently reside in Onalaska, Texas) Life before the Ice or what do you do between seasons: Have been U.S. Navy welder (HT2 (SW)); asbestos remover/supervisor; federal correctional officer; Colorado State correctional officer (super max); Texas Department of Criminal Justice correctional officer (death row unit); uranium mill solvent extraction operator; high school custodian; volunteer firefighter. I like to travel between contracts and flip houses. Station: South Pole Age: 58 Number of years in the program: 1 Number of seasons completed (summers/winters): One each at South Pole Job/jobs on the ice: Physician Hometown: Kotzebue, Alaska Life before the Ice: Before coming to Pole, I was working as a staff physician for the Maniilaq Health Center in Kotzebue, Alaska. Hobbies: My most time-consuming hobby is photography, and I specialize in digital panoramas. You can see examples of my work at Gigapan Why did you want to go to the Ice? Space travel is my lifelong dream. I came to the Ice so that I could live for a while under the starts in the coldest, darkest place on Earth, which is the South Pole in winter. . I also enjoy black and white film photography and darkroom work. I travel whenever I can, and I prefer cold, remote destinations in the Arctic and in the Antarctic. I have been to both Poles. I also enjoy astronomy, boating, camping and reading. Whenever I can, I like to share my leisure activities with my children and grandchildren.
